Traffic Safety Month from August 20 to the end of September in Vietnam has been launched in an effort to reduce the increasing number of traffic accidents through wider propaganda on the law and awareness among people over the issue.

Over 16,130 traffic accidents were estimated to have happened in the first eight months of this year, up 16.5% on-year, killing 7,328 people and injuring 18,670, up 32% and 16%, respectively, over the same period last year.
