Container traffic at MICT up 8%, seen to reach 1M TEUs by yearend.

Container traffic at the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) is expected to reach one million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) this year as economic activity continues to perk up, MICT general manager Francis M. Andrews told reporters yesterday.

"We had a boxes (container) growth planned at six percent for the year, although at the end of last month the growth was eight percent," Mr. Andrews said, nonetheless adding he would prefer it at the 12% to 15% level this year.

Container movement went up eight percent to 479,457 TEUs by the first semester this year.
