The long-awaited East Metro Mall, a 775 meter-long underground shopping strip located at the hub of downtown Taipei under Chunghsiao East Road was launched yesterday, featuring more than 50 shops which provide multiple services along the capital's most popular promenade.

The East Metro Mall sits right underneath section four of Chunghsiao East Road, stretching from the MRT's Chunghsiao Fuhsing Station to the Chunghsiao Tunhua Station. The launch of the underground shopping mall is expected to add fuel to the fierce commercial competition among the various stores and departments stores on the sidewalk level.
