A once-daily topical clindamycin gel is a "viable alternative" to the standard twice-daily formulation for acne treatment, with equivalent efficacy and fewer side effects.

This conclusion emerged from a multicenter, randomized, single-blind study. Study subjects included 667 patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris, Ronald L. Rizer, Ph.D., said at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.
