For women with persistent urinary and fecal incontinence after delivery, taking part in a conservative management program that focuses on pelvic floor exercises reduces the risk that they will still be incontinent at 1 year post partum, said Dr. Cathryn M. Glazener of the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) and her associates.
The researchers studied 522 women with incontinence that persisted for 3 months after delivery, randomly assigning 278 to conservative management and 244 to a control group.
