During 2001 output of soda ash by China increased by 815,395 tonnes to 9.09 M tonnes in 2001. During 1H 2001 the average monthly output was 744,055 tonnes. Output fell to 641,356 tonnes and 718,305 tonnes respectively in Jul and Aug 2001 due to planned overhauls and increased to 788,105 tonnes in Sep 2001. Between Oct-Dec 2001 output averaged 808,470 tonnes/month. Exports increased by 130 tonnes in 2001 to 1100 tonnes averaging $116/tonne. Imports dropped by 67 tonnes to 68 tonnes over the same …
