The heady music made in the 1930s by legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt and his Quintet of the Hot Club of France remains some of the most influential jazz ever recorded, and Reinhardt's unique guitar style still spawns acolytes to this day. Perhaps the most celebrated and widely recorded Reinhardt disciple is the brilliant young Frenchman Bireli Lagrene, who exploded onto the jazz scene in 1980 at age thirteen and has since experimented with other jazz styles before returning triumphantly, on this album, to the gypsy jazz that gave him his start.
