Soprano Barbara Bonney's stylistic range is quite impressive. She is well known for her operatic work, and has performed regularly with the Darmstadt City Opera in addition to her numerous high-profile performances under such celebrated conductors as Georg Solti, Wolfgang Sawallisch and James Levine; she has also worked with period-instrument ensembles on vocal works from the baroque and classical repertoire. But she really shines as a singer of lieder, and a new recital recording is always a special event.
