(From The News (Nigeria): AAGM)
The remains of Tom Diakpo, Special Assistant to Vice President Moses Z. Blah is currently stranded at the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Parlors.
According to reports, the late Diakpo's corpse cannot be removed from the funeral parlors due to lack of funds for the removal, funeral and burial.
Mr. Diakpo died at the S.D. Cooper Hospital two weeks ago following a brief illness.
Explaining circumstances leading to the delay to remove the body, Mr. Mark Diakpo, younger brother of the deceased, told newsmen yesterday that efforts by the family to secure funds for the funeral and burial have not materialized.
Mark, flanked by grief-stricken relatives of the deceased, narrated further that they have contacted the office of the Vice President through the chief of office (Eugene Nagbe) but no words have so far been heard.
He said the family had planned to remove the body from the funeral home on Friday, August 2, 2002, but could not do so for the same financial reason.
