The Game Products Trust Fund (GPTF) has pumped funds into several rural conservancies in the country, a senior official in the Ministry of Environment and Tourism told The Namibian this week.
Pauline Lindeque, Director of Scientific Services in the Ministry, said the GPTF has assisted seven conservancies with elephant populations.
Six of the conservancies, which include Khoadi //Hoag, are in the north-east, while the seventh one was the Nyae-Nyae conservancy at Tsumkwe, in eastern Namibia.
However, she could not reveal the whole amount given to conservancies, saying, "I am not a board member of the fund."
