Colonel Noble Mayombo yesterday said he is not responsible for the death of the man who died while under CMI detention.
The Chief of Military Intelligence said doctors he has consulted say that internal bleeding suffered by Patrick Mamenero, 32, could also be caused by many other things including falling down.
"Internal bleeding can be caused by a fall. Internal bleeding can be caused by disease. If you have a heartache, you can have shock and still have internal bleeding," Mayombo told a press conference at CMI headquarters in Kitante.
A death certificate from Mulago Hospital shows that Mamenero, an in-law to renegade UPDF Col. Samson Mande, now exiled in Rwanda, died from subdural haematomia (internal bleeding) caused by a "blunt injury" during his detention by the CMI.
But Mayombo said CMI should be given time to investigate the matter.
