Floriculture will get a boost from planned feeder roads in the central region, the State Minister for Finance in Charge of Investment, Sam Kutesa has said.
"Next financial year we are going to help flower farmers by providing and improving existing roads leading to flower farms," Kutesa said at the opening of training of district administrators from the central region at the Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel in Entebbe, July 24.
Kutesa said that the flower market is guaranteed and that investment in this sector will create more jobs for women.
In 2001 Uganda earned about $180m (Shs 324bn) from the sale of 3,000 tonnes of flowers, up from $30m in 1995 according to a case study on floriculture exports from Uganda. ...
