Only 5.3 million women in Uganda who are either married or cohabiting use family planning methods.
A data sheet 2002 released by Measure Communication reveals that the 5.3 million represents 21.8 percent of people in a sexual union.
Measure Communication is a project under the Population Reference Bureau, an organisation based in the United States of America.
However, this figure is expected to rise to 8.5 million by 2015.
The injection at 6.4 percent is the most popular method among couples whereas the inter-uterine device at 0.2 percent is the least used, according to a survey conducted in 2000-01.
