A court martial to try people arrested for thugery during 'Operation Wembley' has been constituted, Katumba Wamala has said.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) told the 12th Police Council sitting at his official residence in Kololo on Mabua road July 31 that a court martial has been constituted as the head of state said. "All agencies were sanctioned to work with ISO and compliment their role," Katumba said. He said that the operation may have had loopholes but a team has been constituted to try and come up with files against suspects to be used in the proceedings. However he did not disclose who is to head the court martial.
Katumba Wamala who is also chairperson of the council urged officers to take a stand against indiscipline in the force. "There is a lot of complacency, you do not want to take responsibility," the IGP said. He cautioned officers to take keen interest in the CID and officers manning police counters.
