Ten opposition multiparty politicians yesterday filed a petition challenging the Political Parties and Organisations Act.

The petitioners' lawyer Peter Mukidi Walubiri filed the petition at the Constitutional Court at 3:15 p.m.

UPC national chairman, Badru Wegulo, vice-chairman of the Presidential Policy Commission (PPC) Dr. James Rwanyarare and PPC members Muhamudu Mubiru and Barungi Ignatius, who are some of the petitioners, accompanied him.

"We are praying court to declare these provisions of the law unconstitutional," said Walubiri, a leading Kampala advocate. "Once this is done, only fins and feathers of this law will be left."

This is the second petition against the Act, which came into force July 17. Yesterday morning the court started hearing the petition filed earlier by DP president Paul Ssemogerere
