(From Ghanaian Chronicle: AAGM)
The National Media Commission has determined a complaint lodged against the GHANAIAN CHRONICLE by Home Finance Company Ltd (HFC).
An NMC release, signed by Mr. Nutifafa Kuenyhia, says the complaint was in respect of a front-page story published in the January 28, 2002 edition of the newspaper with the headline "SSB, HFC, EIC, SSNIT 'ghost' Project, GARDEN OF FRAUD, How Databank stuck SSNIT in 24 hour sleight-of-hand Deal."
Home Finance Company Ltd, in their complaint said that although, the story itself did not contain any negative thing against the company, the headline, however, was misleading and created a false impression, which imputed fraudulent deals to the company, the release stated.
It further said the company stated that the Ghanaian Chronicle had called on them seeking information on a project which they mentioned as 'Obotan Project', which was unknown.
The release added that the complainants therefore denied knowledge of it.
However, it continues, they later found out that they had received a proposal in 1998 to participate in a project entitled 'Eden in the heart of the city' which they did not follow up because they were not interested it.
