Members of the Andani Family, one of the factions involved in the Yendi conflict, have accused the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Hon. Nana Akufo Addo, saying that his conduct in the aftermath of this event has not only confirmed their skepticism about the government's commitment to bring the perpetrators of the murder of the Ya-Na to book, but is also sowing the seeds of long-term instability in Dagbon.
Briefing newsmen in Accra yesterday on the ongoing inquiry into the death of the King of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II, and several others, the Andani Family warned of the dangerous consequences of the actions of the Attorney General and Minister for Justice in the matter relating to investigations in to the murder.
According to them, the directive issued by the Attorney General for the release from lawful custody of Yidana Sugri, a critical witness from the Abudu Gate, does little to inspire confidence in the neutrality of the Attorney General in this matter.
"The order for the release of Yidana Sugri, is just the latest in the series of events that have made us doubtful of the intentions of the Attorney General and Minister for Justice," the spokesman for the Andani Family, Wayo Seini, a lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon, said.
"We are also appalled at the blatant disregard for the opinion of the Wuaku Commission which certainly had good reasons for denying bail to Yidana Sugri," Seini stressed.
