Around 3,000 kg of gold is reported to be lost annually due to traditional miners who export gold illegally.
This was disclosed at a one-day consultative workshop held on Tuesday to discuss the country's current mine and petroleum status.
Ato Getachew Tesfaye, Department head at the Ministry of Mine, said that the government is currently designing various export methods in order to encourage the legal export of gold.
