An obviously upset Anglican Archbishop Njongonkulu Ndungane comforted and prayed with the mother of a two-month-old baby who died of cold on the Cape Flats during the severe storms at the weekend.
Yakela Mdinisa died early on Saturday morning while his mother, Feziwe Mdinisa, 34, battled to keep water out of their tiny shack in Phola Park, Philippi.
A distraught Mdinisa wept uncontrollably yesterday when Ndungane paid her a visit in her tiny, flooded shack.
Residents standing around the shack became emotional when Ndungane prayed with and comforted her.
Although the sun shone yesterday, people in the worst-hit areas in the city were still battling to clean up their homes.
