(From Manila Standard)
Senator Robert Jaworski's youngest son Ryan and two of his friends were released from the San Juan town jail Friday night after posting bail for illegal gun charges.
Ryan Jaworski, 27, paid P140,000 bail for two counts of illegal possession of firearms while Michael Castro, 27, and Joao Santiago, 26, each paid P60,000.
Jaworski and his friends left around 7 a.m. after the Rizal provincial prosecutor's office filed the charges before the Pasig City Regional Trial Court.
Edgardo Bautista, assistant provincial prosecutor of Rizal, upgraded the charges filed by the San Juan police from alarm and scandal to illegal gun possession after the suspects were found to have violated provisions in their permit to carry guns.
"They are only allowed about 50 rounds of ammunition for each gun but they have more than 170 rounds," Bautista told Manila Standard.
Bautista added that the men used their firearms in a public place. "The street is not a firing range," said the Rizal prosecutor.
