Pixologic's ZBrush is a product more or less in a category of its own. It is both a painting and a sculpting tool that enables image creation in 2D as well as 3D, and includes a real-time rendering engine for instant feedback. ZBrush artists can paint with color, material, textures, and depth. They can push and pull the digital "canvas," and sculpt and texture 3D models as well.

Version 1.5 of ZBrush will enable users to create full figures with a new modeling tool called the `ZSphere.' According to Pixologic, ZSphere will make it possible for users to model figures as easily as they now model heads in ZBrush, using the program's Sphere3D tool.
