Increased security measures for passengers and their baggage has resulted in delays and congestion at airports. Remote check in facilities away from the airports themselves offer a means to ease this but present the challenge of ensuring that passengers` luggage is secure all the way from being security checked at the check-in point to loading on the aircraft.

Encrypta Electronics, which is the world leader in integrating electronic tagging with security systems, has teamed with Marco Trailers, which builds containers for transporting luggage, to create the Encrypta ExpressLok system. Each wheeled container has an internal volume of 1.5 cubic metres and is manufactured from high tensile steel. Built into the door is a custom-designed slam lock incorporating Encrypta`s award winning electronic seal that automatically generates a four digit random number, which acts as a seal number, every time the door is closed. The number remains unchanged until the door is opened, thus enabling any unauthorised opening to be immediately noticed. In addition, the seal records the time and date of each opening and closing for audit purposes in such cases and may be tracked using infra red.
