Mechanic's liens in Iowa. (Construction Corner).
INTRODUCTION
Iowa's mechanic's lien statute is a unique creature and does not draw from other statutes (be it state or federal) although the courts will most likely be open to the receipt of persuasive authority to the extent the case law construes similar provisions. In addition, the Iowa mechanic's lien statute has undergone a number of changes in recent years. When used in accordance with the statute, the Iowa mechanic's lien statute is an effective tool for the collection of funds due the contractor or subcontractor.
