The last detailed monograph about the French painter Jean Baptiste Huet was published in 1892. (1) Now, more than a century later, after much research in the Archives nationales in Paris and the compilation of a catalogue of his drawings and paintings, it has become clear that Huet's most original work was the result of his close collaboration with the textile manufacturer Christopher Philippe Oberkampf from 1783 until the artist's death in 1811. (2) He was the principal designer of printed cottons for Oberkampf's factory in Jouyen-Josas. (5)
