In December of last year the American Folk Art Museum opened its new building in midtown Manhattan. To mark the occasion the museum's curators organized an exhibition featuring objects from the permanent collection, almost all of which were recent accessions specifically donated to celebrate the new building. However, a substantial number of objects in the collection were not on view at that time so the museum has organized a second show devoted to its holdings. The exhibition, which may be seen until January 5, 2003, includes 225 objects and is entitled American Anthem Part II: Masterworks from the American Folk Art Museum. The wide range of works includes quilts, rugs, needlework, paintings, works on paper, weather vanes, whirligigs, decoys, and painted furniture.
