TOKYO, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - Renown Inc. (TSE:8021) says it will likely record a consolidated operating loss of around 500 million yen (US$4.17 million) for the fiscal half ended Wednesday, narrower than the year-earlier loss of 3 billion yen and the previously predicted loss of 700 million yen.

Sales declined as a result of the termination of unprofitable operations, but the company's gross profit margin improved. Personnel reductions also contributed to the better results.
