HSINCHU, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - Electronics giant Hon Hai Precision Industry (TSE:2317) has submitted an application to the Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park Administration for an eight-hectare site to build a TFT-LCD (thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display) factory, a spokesman for the company said Wednesday.
He said that Hon Hai plans to invest NT$20 billion (US$592.7 million) to establish the fifth-generation TFT-LCD manufacturing facilities in Hsinchu, and it is also possible that the company will set up a research and development center there.
