SEOUL, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - Privatization plans for Korea Power Engineering Co., an affiliate of Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) that was to be privatized along with other KEPCO affiliates, have been suspended indefinitely.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and the KEPCO agreed to delay the privatization, but talks on the issue will resume when the transfer of nuclear reactor type is open for discussion.
A ministry official said Korea Power Engineering would continue to be a monopoly even after it is privatized and therefore they have decided to push for its privatization after the transfer of nuclear reactor technology is liberalized.
