BRISBANE, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - The Australian share market opened slightly weaker, with banking stocks and News Corp failing to prop up the broad market index, despite a better night on Wall Street.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index opened 3.2 points or 0.1 per cent weaker at 3083.1, while the all ordinaries dipped 3.1 points or 0.1 per cent to 3030.0 at 1016 AEST.
On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the September share price index contract was seven points weaker at 3076 - a 7.1 point discount to the underlying index - on a volume of 3,083 contracts.
