Abstract

Motivating students with learning disabilities to succeed academically has long been a challenge for teachers. It is no coincidence, then, that a considerable amount of research has been conducted in the area of student motivation. While much remains to be learned about student motivation, research to date clearly indicates that low levels of motivation among students are directly related to the anticipation of academic failure. In this article, sound and practical strategies based on research findings are provided that can help teacher's increase student motivation by changing their expectations for failure to expectations for success.
