Abstract

This study reports results from a multi-district demonstration project: Systemic Restructuring to Include Children with Disabilities jointly conducted by the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute and the Department of Special Education at the University of South Florida. Academic outcomes of 89 students with learning disabilities included in general education were measured. Inclusion was measured by assessing the number of hours per week a student was present in the general education classroom. Results showed that, on average, students with learning disabilities who spent more time in inclusive settings had higher achievement scores.
