In December of last year, Terrance McLaughlin of Las Vegas, Nevada, placed a newspaper advertisement for some jewelry he wanted to sell. On December 10th, John Dimick, 31, and girlfriend Desirae Bueti, 19, visited McLaughlin in response to the ad. After inspecting the jewelry they agreed to buy it and told McLaughlin that they would return later that day to pick it up.
The couple arrived at around 7:00 p.m., but rather than pay for the valuables, Dimick pulled out a small crowbar and began beating McLaughlin while Bueti grabbed the jewelry and ran from the house.
McLaughlin's adult daughter was home at the time. When she heard her father's screams for help, she grabbed a handgun and rushed to help. As Dimick turned to assault her as well, she opened fire, striking him several times in the face.
