National leaders attending an EU summit in Spain "moved to establish an EU border police force to patrol shores, ports and crossing points against illegal immigrants," reported the June 23rd London Telegraph. "The heads of government said that the moves were a stepping stone to the creation of a fully fledged European-wide force which would act in tandem with each nation's police."
This move comes as right-wing political parties in France, Holland, Austria, Italy, and other EU member states gain support, in large measure because of public concerns about unchecked immigration -- both legal and illegal. Eurocrats and their supporters predictably insist that this right-wing political surge is an outgrowth of xenophobia and similar intolerance, and that it is improper for any individual EU ...
