A Muslim fundamentalist clergyman and a Marxist lesbian feminist? One would expect them to be mortal enemies. What could they have in common? Revolution. Destroying America. Perhaps additional goals as well.
On April 8th, federal authorities arrested and charged four people with providing material support and resources to a terrorist group. Among those charged was attorney Lynne Stewart, a longtime radical activist and supporter of terrorist causes. Stewart, the attorney for the blind Egyptian cleric Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, is accused of helping him direct terrorist activity from his prison cell, under the guise of attorney-client privilege. Sheik Rahman, 63, is serving a life sentence for his 1995 conviction as leader of the plot to blow up such New York City landmarks as the World Trade Center, the New York FBI headquarters, the George Washington Bridge, and the Lincoln and Holland tunnels.
