: With Venkaiah Naidu set to be the BJP president and Arun Jaitley the general secretary, Chief Minister Narendra Modi's political fortunes seem to be looking up. He is expected to emerge more powerful in organisational matters, including the crucial task of selection of candidates for the assembly elections.
"Both Naidu and Jaitley share good terms with Modi. The trio had worked unitedly in the party organisation during the last Lok Sabha elections and after the formation of the BJP-led coalition at the Centre," a leader close to Modi says.
State BJP sources believe that with the new developments in the party there is a strong possibility of an overhaul in Gujarat. They say Sanjay Joshi may be sent back to the state to revitalise the organisational activities when the elections are round the corner.
Joshi, who was shifted to the central leadership after Modi was made CM still enjoys the confidence of the rank and file in the state. Besides, the powerful Sangh lobby would hail his return in the larger interest of the organisation.
