THANE: Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has sought immediate assistance of Rs 75 crore from the Union agriculture ministry to deal with the extensive loss of life and property in the torrential rains on Wednesday.

Mr Deshmukh has also asked the Centre to send teams to assess the damage.
