: Municipal commissioner Rakesh Mehta conducted midnight raids at Singhu Border Toll Tax Post and Hindu Rao Hospital. Mehta was accompanied by vigilance officials of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) and the anti-corruption branch. Mehta had warned of such raids in other MCD departments, too.

During the course of the checks it was found that commercial vehicles were being checked a kilometre away from the toll tax post. Officials disclosed that over 40 per cent trucks were either carrying fake coupons or did not have proper toll tax receipts. Many truck drivers who did not have receipts or coupons alleged they had duly paid the tax at the post but the officials ...
