PATNA: About 100 people, believed to be supporters of Union health minister and Patna MP C P Thakur, on Sunday, ransacked the Bihar BJP headquarters amid reports that Thakur was likely to be dropped from the cabinet in the reshuffle to be effected on Monday.
The infuriated supporters also raised slogans against Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and state BJP president Nand Kishore Yadav. The party's office secretary has lodged a case with the police against unknown persons.
After breaking the window panes of the office of the BJYM, the BJP's youth wing, Thakur's supporters went to the Patna Junction and squatted on the railway tracks.The police soon chased them away. State BJP chief Yadav, however, described the incident as the handiwork of Congress supporters. He said it was aimed at tarnishing Thakur's image.
