Kenya's Nairobi coffee auction opens week with low sales.

Nairobi, Kenya, (PANA) - Demand for coffee at the Nairobi Exchange Tuesday fell to a low of 7,716 kg against a supply of 111,258 kg, down from 14,573 kg sold at last week's auction.

According to the exchange report, the average price per 50-kg bag shed 8.50 US dollars to settle at 49.25 dollars.

Kenya Planters Co-operative Union (KPCU) this week offered 11,258 kg of 14 coffee grades for auction, out of which 3,548 kg was not marketed.

The Kenyan coffee market has been unstable, with the auctions registering an average of 57.75 dollars and 45.01 dollars in the two previous weeks. Dealers attributed negative performance in the sector to the current …
