Fitch Ratings assigns an underlying 'A+' rating to Carteret County, North Carolina's $13,325,000 certificates of participation (2002 Carteret County Public Facilities Project). The certificates of participation (COPS) are scheduled to price through negotiation with UBS PaineWebber Inc. on July 24. The certificates are expected to be insured by Ambac Assurance Corporation, whose insurer financial strength is rated 'AAA' by Fitch Ratings. In addition, Fitch affirms its 'AA-' rating on the county's approximately $25.2 million in outstanding general obligation bonds.
