: Six years after the enactment of the Delhi Prohibition of Smoking and Non-smokers' Health Protection Act, the police here are not aware of its provisions, resulting in acquittal of the offenders.

''It seems the police officials are not aware of the provisions of the Act and this has led to a futile exercise and the precious time of the court has been wasted,'' metropolitan magistrate Santosh Snehi Mann said, discharging a man accused of selling cigarettes to a minor in violation of Section 8 of the Act.
