Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has written a letter to members of the country's national soccer squad "to cheer them up" ahead of the 2002 World Cup starting on Friday.

Speaking during his monthly "Media Chat" programme Sunday, the President said he gave the letter to Sports Minister Stephen Akiga, who is travelling Monday to Japan, where the Super Eagles will play their first round matches at the World Cup.
