Mumbai: Constitutional offices like those of the governor, the legislature and the judiciary will also come under the citizen's right to information if a draft legislation pending at the Centre is passed in its current form.

Section 2 (b) of the Freedom of Information Bill includes the President, governors, Parliament, legislatures and the judiciary. This would override the privilege of exemption enjoyed by these authorities under the much-flawed Right to Information Act 2000 passed by the state. These three offices have also been excluded from the ambit of the new bill which seeks to replace the state act.
