Nairobi, Kenya (PANA) - In a bid to improve Kenya's performance in international events, the Kenya Football Federation is in the process of forming a private company to manage the senior team known as Harambee Stars.

Disturbed by the declining soccer standards in the country, the federation is transforming the Harambee Stars Management Board into a private firm, de-linked from the federation.

Expounding on the details earlier in the week, Board chairman Mohammed Nyaoga reckoned that the lack of a professional approach to the team's management was one of the factors arresting the development of soccer in the country.

Under the present arrangement, the board's hands are tied as members report to the national soccer office.

It brings together stakeholders drawn from the sponsors - Kenya Breweries Limited, KFF and Premier League clubs representatives.

Though enjoying limited autonomy under the present set-up, the board's activities are limited as all major decisions must be endorsed by the federation. Under these circumstances, the board cannot function effectively.
