Lome, Togo (PANA) - With only two stadiums and without any training school, Togo is not well-endowed in terms of football facilities, and yet the game is considered to be the most popular in the country.
The two stadia are all in Lome the capital. One of them is the new stadium of Kegue (Northeastern suburbs of Lome), inaugurated in January 2000 and which seats 38,400 people.
This Togolese football temple, built with the support of the People's Republic of China, came to supplement the former municipal stadium which only has 15,000 seats.
Most first division teams do not have a training ground of their own.
"There are no real training stadiums for the teams", Yekini Bouraima, the vice-president of Lome's Etoile Filante football club, one of the first division teams, said.
He added that the same stadium which serves as a training ground for his team is also shared by three schools which come for physical and sporting exercises.
