INDIA'S GAIL WANTS AN OVERSEAS ARM OR STAKE ON OVL
NEW DELHI - State-run Gas Authority of India (BSE:GAIL) has asked Government to either permit it to pick stake in overseas natural gas projects or be allowed to take stake in ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL) for jointly pursuing projects abroad.
"We have written to the government that we be allowed to undertake gas business overseas. If the government wants to continue with exploration firm ONGC's fully-owned subsidary OVL as the front company for overseas acquisition then GAIL be given a stake in it", GAIL Chairman and Managing Director Prashanto Banerjee told PTI here.
