SYDNEY, July 1 Asia Pulse - Internet job advertisement were down in June, but optimism remained strong in the local market, according to the latest job ads survey.
Recruitment group Olivier's Internet Job Index dropped 1.4 per cent June.
Olivier director Robert Olivier said the drop in June could be a consolidation of the growth seen in employment through 2002.
"There is optimism in the local market - our clients are quite active, and there's pent up demand from people who want to find new roles," Mr Olivier said.
However, the financial trouble of some big American companies could have some repercussions locally, he said.
"We're already seing some flashing lights on the dashboad of the local economy that you can't attribute to international economics," Mr Olivier said.
The overall drop in the index came in the final two weeks of June, Mr Olivier said.
