TOKYO, July 1 Asia Pulse - Crude steel production will rise 3.2 per cent on the year to 53.91 million tons for the first half of fiscal 2002, and will exceed 100 million tons for the full year thanks to buoyant exports to Asia, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry projected in its report released Friday.
In the July-September quarter, output is expected to total 26.7 million tons, up 3.4 per cent from a year earlier. For the period, steel exports are likely to climb 11.6 per cent to 7.19 million tons, while domestic sales will decline 3 per cent due to slow demand from all sectors except automakers.
