PAKISTAN IMPORTS 1.1 MLN TONNES OF OILSEEDS THIS YR.
ISLAMABAD, July 1 Asia Pulse - Pakistan has imported about 1.1 million tonnes oilseeds this year, inflating the import bill to Rs 27 billion (US$450.902 million), against Rs 24 billion last year, Food and Agriculture Ministry sources said on Friday.
The import bill in 1999-2000 was Rs 43 billion, and the reason for lower import bills this year and last year was depressed international prices, they said and added that the quantity of oilseeds imported this year was almost the same as last year but its price in the international market was a little higher this year as compared to last year.
