Academy of excellence honors industry's best for 2002. (Industry news).
The Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence presented its prestigious awards for 2002 during an 11th anniversary special reception held April 27 in Reno, Nev. The academy honored 11 companies and one individual during the standing room only event.
Bob Scott, president of Smith & Wesson, was presented the coveted Shooting Industry Award, the academy's only individual honor.
Taurus International was honored as Manufacturer of the Year, and AcuSport received the Distributor of the Year award.
This year, the 400-plus members of the academy considered 187 potential nominees before selecting 36 for the Final Ballot. Their final selections were kept secret until announced at the reception. Presenting the awards were Randy Molde, academy director, and Russ…
